About the Department

The Department of Hindi at Vikas College of Arts, Science & Commerce is committed to promoting linguistic proficiency, literary appreciation, and communicative competence among undergraduate students. As part of a college affiliated to the University of Mumbai, the department follows the curriculum and academic framework prescribed by the University.

The Department currently offers Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC) in Hindi to students of the First Year undergraduate programmes across streams. These courses are designed to strengthen language skills, enhance comprehension and expression, and cultivate cultural and literary awareness.

Hindi, being one of the most widely spoken languages in India and an important medium of communication, plays a vital role in academic, professional, and social contexts. The Department seeks to equip students with practical language skills alongside a deeper understanding of Hindi literature and culture.

Ability Enhancement Course (AEC) in Hindi

Level: First Year Undergraduate

Streams Covered: B.A., B.Com., B.Sc., and other undergraduate programmes offered by the College

The course focuses on:

  • Functional Hindi and Communication Skills
  • Grammar and Usage
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Creative and Academic Writing
  • Appreciation of Select Literary Texts (Poetry, Prose, Short Stories)
  • Application of Hindi in day-to-day and professional contexts

 

Course Outcomes (COs)

Upon successful completion of the AEC in Hindi, students will be able to:

  • Communicate effectively in written and spoken Hindi.
  • Demonstrate improved grammatical accuracy and vocabulary usage.
  • Interpret and analyze prescribed literary texts.
  • Develop structured academic and creative writing skills.
  • Apply Hindi language skills in professional and social settings.
